Waterfall Hikes
Johnson City offers easy access to several waterfalls that are hugely popular among hikers and nature lovers. These range from easy to moderate difficulty. Hikers are advised to wear appropriate footwear and carry plenty of water and snacks. Some of the most popular waterfalls in the area include:
Laurel Falls – A 55-foot waterfall located in the Cherokee National Forest, accessed via a 1.3-mile trail.
Blue Hole Falls – A picturesque waterfall in the Cherokee National Forest that can be reached via a 1.3-mile trail .
Rainbow Falls – A 70-foot waterfall located in the Jonesborough area, accessed via a moderate 1.5-mile hike.
Dennis Cove Falls – A 25-foot waterfall located in the Cherokee National Forest, accessed via a 1-mile trail.
Backbone Falls – A 25-foot waterfall located in the Cherokee National Forest, accessed via a 2.5-mile round-trip hike.
