Why Johnson City? Because it Leaves Quite an Impression
Why are people moving to Tennessee? And, more specifically, to Johnson City?
I think for a lot of people the reason Tennessee ends up on their mind is due to not only our more conservative values, but also the way the state is governed. The state is very friendly with taxes and retirement taxes. That’s one of the main reasons it ends up being a destination for many looking for a place to retire. It allows retirees to hold onto as much of their financial wealth as possible that they’ve accumulated.
There isn’t any state income tax in Tennessee. Zero. Plus, there isn’t any retirement tax. The state phased out the retirement tax in 2021.
As a result of being a conservative, tax-friendly state, more and more people are moving to Tennessee — with Johnson City being one of the most popular metro areas in the state because of its strong economy, affordability, and a host of other reasons. That’s why The Wall Street Journal/Realtor.com housing index declared Johnson City 2022’s #1 housing market.
Eastern TN First Impressions
A lot of people’s first experiences with eastern Tennessee either come from visiting Knoxville to watch a football game at the University of Tennessee or from visiting the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area, but to go on a hike in the mountains and see some of the scenery in the great Smoky Mountain National Park is absolutely breathtaking.
Many have been to the great Smoky Mountain National Park. It’s the most visited national park of the national park system. It’s even more popular than anything out west.
Eastern Tennessee is a natural at quickly winning over the hearts of those looking to relocate. If you’re thinking of relocating to Johnson City, let me know and I’ll show y’all around.
